Hello Games is hard at work continuing to try and redeem No Man’s Sky with an ongoing series of free updates
that hopefully moves the game closer to what it was originally meant to be. 

The first
“Foundation” update, which added base-building, farming and freighter ships, was meant to set the stage for
things to come, and now one of those things has arrived.

The new trailer below shows off what’s new in
this 1.2 "Path Finder" update. It includes the addition of a permadeath mode, where players try to reach the
center of the galaxy in one 

life. There are dozens of new components to add onto bases, which can now house
vendors and also custom messages you leave for other players who might discover your building.



The most significant update is the addition of land vehicles to the game. There appear to be three types
players can build. I don’t think they’re customizable. I believe you’ll just 

have to
find the materials to make each model. One is a dune buggy-like rover, another is a heavy miner, and one appears to be
some sort of hovercraft.

I have been one of the only voices making the case that No Man’s Sky
wasn’t quite the disaster everyone claimed, and it has its own kind of peaceful appeal, in my eyes, as you surf


around the stars. I really did like the Foundation update quite a bit, as it was fun to hunt for the perfect
freighter, and I liked building a custom base that allowed me to farm a 

zillion dollars worth of Mordite
(has that been patched yet? It took me like three days to get 100 million credits).

All that said, I am
slightly less enamored with what I’m seeing in this update. New additions to bases will be cool, but only if they
have greatly increased the “item limit” for bases 

that only lets you put a certain amount of
